Barnegat

Officers were called to the township water tower property located at 901 West Bay Avenue after township employees discovered that someone had cut through the perimeter fence and stolen 500 water meters valued at $27,500.
 The brass meters weigh 3 pounds each and were stolen sometime between September 3rd and September 10th.
 Ptl. Jeff Ryan took the initial report for the incident which is being investigated by department detectives.
 


on 09/01/08 at 6:05 pm police responded to ridgeway st for a disturbance call. during the investigation, ptl. brian weber arrested kathleen gunnell,47 of barnegat, for an outstanding warrant out of stafford twp with bail set at 300.00. gunnell was also in possession of marijuana and charged with it. gunnell was ror'ed for the warrant and the drug charge.
 
on 09/02/08 the investigative division executed a search warrant at 14a emerald dr in barnegat which resulted in the arrest of donald serventi, 52yoa, after illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. serventi was charged with 4th degree possession of less than 1oz of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of parahernalia. serventi was lodged in the oc jail in lieu of 20,000.00 bail. the detectives were assisted by k9 officer gary smith with the search of the home

on 09/02/08 at 10:08 pm police responded to the atlantic heights apartment complex for an active disturbance. during the investigation police discovered that an involved person was supplying them with a false identity, attempting to avoid arrest for outstanding warrants. ptl. george martin and ptl. alex hoffman had a similar encounter with this person in june of 2008. police identified him as james j. stanley, 36 of barnegat, and arrested him for hindering his apprehension and obstructing the administration of law along with 6 outstanding warrants from various agencies totalling approcimately 1,400.00. stanley was charged by barnegat police for 2 counts of hindering and 2 counts of obstructing and lodged in the oc jail on 10,000.00 bail.

on 09/03/08 at 6:51 pm ptl. timothy bradshaw arrested trevor pearson, 22 of barnegat, on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court out of lacey twp in the amount of 258.00. pearson posted bail and was released
 
on 09/03/08 at 10:57 pm ptl. anthony king arrested christopher smith, 26 of w. bay ave barnegat, on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court out of barnegat twp in the amount of 500.00. smith posted bail and was released

on 09/04/08 at 5:44 pm ptl. timothy bradshaw arrested stanley chambers, 22 of barnegat, on an oustanding contempt of court warrant in the amount of 690.00 from little egg harbor. chambers posted partial bail and was released.

On 9/5 at 10:39 pm, Ptl. Tom Behrens arrested Maryanne Bennett, 40, of Little Egg Harbor for DWI. Bennett was stopped for failing to maintain her lane of travel. She was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failing to Maintain Lane of Travel.

On 9/7 at 7:48 pm Ptl. Alex Hoffman and Ptl. Greg Martinez responded to the Atlantic Heights Apartments for a report of a disturbance. During their investigation, officers made contact with Kenneth Allebach Jr., 43, of Seaside Heights. Allebach initially provided officers with a false name in order to avoid arrest for outstanding warrants. Allebach was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension and Obstructing the Administration of Law. He was taken to Ocean County Jail on $10,000 bail.

On 9/8 at 7:15 pm, Ptl. Ptl. Julie Yakes and Ptl. Alex Hoffman responded to a report of a burglarized home in the Pebble Beach development. Officers found that someone had forced entry into the residence, however, nothing was stolen as the house was undergoing renovations and was empty. Det. Bill Sierchio processed the crime scene for evidence.

on 09/13/08 at 1:30 pm police responded to the genuardis parking lot regarding a shoplifter. on arrival a witness told police that a white male left the grocery store with a cart full of items that were not bagged. the male placed several items into a vehicle and walked towards burger king. police located ronald schmidbauer, 37 of forked river, who admitted to the theft and two other shopliftings that occurred at the same store on 09/07/08 and 09/12/08. the cart full of items was estimated at 1182.00 and bail was set at 3,000.00. schmidbauer posted bond and was released. ptl. brian weber is the arresting officer.
 
on 09/14/08 at 11:16 am ptl timothy bradshaw was conducting an investigation regarding a stolen satellite radio from a vehicle on pennsylvania ave. with the assistance of sgt. richard cassidy the investigation lead to the arrest of gregory kraft, 18 of barnegat, who had the radio along with other items (boxing gloves and a jacket)that have not been reported stolen yet. kraft was charged with burglary and theft and transported to the oc jail on 2,500.00 bail
 
on 09/14/08 at 1:51 pm a 14 year old twp boy was riding on a bicycle crossing barnegat bld north near w. bay ave when a vehicle being operated by jennifer ocello, 25 of barnegat, was slowing for the traffic signal at w. bay ave. both parties collided and the 14 yr old was injured and taken to soch and eventually flown to the ac trauma center. the juvenile was at fault for not crossing at a designated crosswalk and was charged with disobeying the duties of a bicyclist and failing to wear a helmet. the juvenile has been released and suffered a fractured shoulder as well as cuts and bruises.
 
on 09/15/08 at 8:45 pm ptl. greg martinez was investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle when he discovered the occupant was in possession of marijuana. glenn jones jr, 20 of barnegat, was arrested and charged with possession under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia and released. this incident occurred on village dr.

09/16/08 at 9:34 pm ptl. greg martinez was investigating a disturbance on colonial ct. which lead to the arrest of alisha belson, 33 of surf city, for dwi. belson was charged with dwi, reckless driving, and failing to submit breath samples for testing and released.
 
9/17/08 at 1:17 am ptl. greg martinez observed a vehicle disregard a red traffic signal on rt 9 at barnegat bl north. the vehicle was stopped on rt 9 near the ocean twp border. the driver, scott phillipps, 41 of barnegat, was arrested for dwi and additionally charged with reckless driving, speeding, failing to maintain lane of travel, failing to observe a traffic signal, and driving with a suspended license.


during a motor vehicle stop on gunning river rd on 09/19/08 at 11:43 pm ptl. chris steins arrested the operator, vincent scala, 19 of fairfield nj, for possession of marijuana. scala was released after being charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.

on 09/20/08 at 2:46 am police responded to the area of bowline st and village dr for a 1 car collision, where the vehicle impacted a curb. when police arrived the operator of the vehicle had already left the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. during the investigation the operator was identified, located, and ultimately arrested for dwi. michael mull, 18 of vineland, was charged with dwi, reckless driving, failing to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident.
 
there were 2 hit and run collisions in barnegat on 09/20/08 and police need your assistance with identifying and locating those responsible. at 5:50 pm a silver saturn vue struck a speed limit sign on pennsylvania ave and at 9:49 pm a black mitsibushi eclipse was struck while parked on village dr. if anyone has information regarding these collisions contact the tips line at 660-tips or access the dept's website at barnegatpolice.com and click on the tips icon.

on 09/22/08 at 4:58 pm police investigated an erratic driver complaint which led to the rite aid parking lot on w. bay ave. during the encounter ptl. anthony king arrested the operator, carlo zalewski jr, 42 of barnegat, for dwi. zalewski jr was charged with dwi and reckless driving and released.

on 09/26/08 at 11:57 pm ptl. brian weber stopped a vehicle for impeding the flow of travel on rt 9 at bay ave. during the encounter ptl. weber arrested the operator, albert smith, 77 of barnegat, for dwi. smith was charged with dwi, reckless driving, and impeding the flow of travel.
 
on 09/27/08 at 3:13 pm jennifer theis-alston, 38 of mt laurel, was arrested for dwi after ptl. andrew parsley stopped the vehicle theis alston was operating for failing to use a turn signal. theis-alston was released after being charged with dwi, reckless driving, and failing to use a turn signal.

STAFFORD

On Sunday Sept. 7 2008 at 2056 hours Stafford please stop a dark colored 1997 Mercury Mountaineer for driving a erratically on Washington have. Investigation revealed the driver identified as 37-year-oldMichele Sapanara of Barnegat to be driving while intoxicated. Ms.Sapanara was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Stafford Township police headquarters where she was processed and released, pending a future court appearance in Stafford Township Municipal Court patrolman Drew Smith was the arresting officer.

On Sept. 9th 2008 the Stafford Township Police Department was contacted by Kmart security who advised they needed assistance with a shoplifter they had in custody. Investigation revealed Alexis C Didato 20 of Lanoka Harbor attempted to shoplift $121.31 worth of merchandise from Kmart. The defendant was arrested without incident, and transported to the Stafford Township headquarters and released on a summons pending a future court date in Stafford Township.

On Sept. 10th 2008 at approximately 2030 hours, a Stafford Township Police Department responded to a hit-and-run accident in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Investigation at the scene revealed that an unknown vehicle struck a park 1997 Dodge Caravan bearing New Jersey registration bearing NJ registration RNX-24M. Damage was done to the rear lift gates of the Caravan. Contact the Stafford Township Police Department with any information record in this incident.

On Sept. 12 2008 Officer Robert Mullin arrested a Stafford Township male juvenile, for threatening to shoot his father. The juvenile was taking into police custody and released to his mother. The case is pending juvenile complaints.

On Sept. 15th 2008 and 18-year-old was arrested and charged with providing an alcoholic beverage to a person under the legal age to consume alcohol. The 18-year-old had provided alcohol to two female juveniles polled 15 years of age while at his residence. Police were called to the residence after his mother had discovered the juveniles were in her residence consuming alcohol. The 18-year-old was processed and released with a criminal complaint summons pending a future court appearance in Stafford Township. The juveniles were processed and released to their parents pending juvenile charges for possession and consumption of the alcohol. Officer James Cahill was the investigating and arresting officer.

On Sept. 17 2008 the Stafford Township police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving one vehicle, which occurred at 312 East Bay ave, Stafford at the Bay, Manahawkin. The driver was identified as Nancy Kennerley, age 52, of West Milford. Further investigation revealed that Kennerley was driving while intoxicated.Kennerley was arrested, processed and charged with DWI and later released pending a future court date in Stafford Township Municipal Court.

A Stafford Township female juvenile was taking into custody on Wednesday Sept. 17 2008 at 1230 hours
after being reported missing. While police custody she was found to be in possession of alcohol.

Patrolman Robert Mullin arrested Katrina Koutsogiannis on Sept. 17 2008 for shoplifting at the Wal-Mart, located on Route 72 in Manahawkin. Ms. Koutsogiannis
was observed by Wal-Mart security shoplifting merchandise valued at $28 Wal-Mart contacted Stafford police, at which time Ms. Koutsogiannis was arrested, processed and released ROR. Pending court.

On Friday Sept. 19th 2008 Stafford Township police arrested Mr. John Yuille at the Best Buy department store. Mr.Yuille was observed removing a CD from its packaging and then placing a into his front pants pocket. He then attempted to exit the store without paying for the item. He was arrested by store security and then arrested by police. Mr.Yuille
was transported to police headquarters for processing, served with a summons for shoplifting and then released pending a future appearance in Stafford Township Municipal Court. The arresting officer was patrolman M. Morrin.

On Sept. 20th 2008 Stafford Township police as well as Stafford Township fire department and emergency medical services responded to a structure fire at the after the hunt Taxidermy studio, on Route 9 in Cedar run. Route 9 was temporarily closed, with traffic being detoured onto Mayetta Landing Road as well as Cedar Run Dock Road, causing minor delays. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Ocean County Arson investigation unit as well as the Stafford Township detective bureau.

On Sept. 21st 2008 at approximately 2157 hours, Officer Robert Mullin arrested Stephen Wallace Jr., of Cedar run, for aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing a police investigation. Officer Mullin was a secondary unit on a traffic stop, when Wallace approached officer Stephen Fessler, while he was conducting the traffic stop. Officer Mullin and struck it Wallace to keep away from the vehicle that was stopped, Dunfee which time Wallace refused to comply and pushed officer Mullin. Officer's Mullin and Dunfee proceeded to arrest Wallace, but Wallace became combative. Wallace was subsequently arrested and transported to Ocean County jail, in lieu of $10,000 bail. He was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, obstructing justice and resisting arrest. No officers were injured during this incident.Note: no space for the text!
